Maria da Sé Historic House

Pros: The top floor apartment has a lovely terrace with a magnificent view of Porto. Expect a steep ascent up the staircase. Maria, the host, was nice and helpful. We would stay again.

A little gem

Pros: Fantastic host. Very informative and patient in explaining routes to take and places to visit. Exceptionally clean. Breakfast was good and set us up well for the day ahead. The location was great, just a few minutes walk from lots of attractions. I would highly recommend it.

Highly recommended

Pros: Lovely guesthouse in a great location - central yet quiet. So much nicer than a normal hotel. The superior room is quite spacious and the bathroom is compact but spotlessly clean. Maria is a charming and helpful host and very responsive on WhatsApp. We much preferred having breakfast downstairs with Maria than the packaged breakfast in the room. Obrigada, Maria, for a lovely stay!

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: We stayed in a compact room right in the heart of Portos' old town. It had everything we needed for one night as we were transiting out of Porto the next day. Very helpful host.

Cons: If was fine for us, and probably most tourists who are out and about exploring but there is little in the way of shared facilities, eg a lounge or kitchen

Great location & the perfect host!

Pros: Wonderful place, friendly, good central location & great breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble.

Cons: There was nothing to dislike. The room was fairly small, but it had all we needed.

Pros: Maria was a great host and so welcoming from before we even arrived. We got messages leading up to our stay with information and to help us find the house and was greeted with a pastel de nata and port. The location is perfect for seeing Porto and close to a metro stop. Breakfast was good and fresh and was ideal as we needed to take it with us to a half marathon and for travelling early to the airport.

Pros: I liked the location. Maria was very welcoming. The Tarta de Nata and glass of port was a nice touch.

Cons: Despite there being a big enough and polite sign on the exterior door asking for it to be closed gently , quite a few guests just let it slam shut, very annoying if you're having an early night.

Pros: Super nice and cozy place to stay when visiting Porto! The staff is very nice and welcoming and the place is perfectly located in the city of Porto.

Cons: The toilet seat was crooked, and we asked them to fix it - but it was not possible during our stay. We wondered how the staff/cleaning staff did not notice this and fixed it before - but we made them aware and we hope they fixed it!
