Pros: Excellent location in the center of historic Porto; the entire staff had been very nice, helpful and friiendly

Cons: Parking only available in nearby parking garages at substantial rates; very inconvenient if you travel with larger baggage due to unavailability of elevadors.

Very enjoyable stay in a great location

Pros: Great breakfast, super location. Warm welcome and really helpful information sharing from Chris

Cons: Would have preferred more pillows Strange noises in the room …. from the plumbing perhaps?

Would stay again..

Pros: - Amazing breakfast selection. -Amazing views from the terrace and room 7. -Room size was excellent and had a separate small living room area. -Warm. -Great extras- kettle, biscuits, water, blankets. -location is great. -Extremely helpful and warm staff- Crís really helped with bags, Laura helped to give city tips and placed our bags in our room as we couldn't check in as we arrived very early. Grateful as we had to walk over 3 flights of stairs!

Cons: -On 2 occasions the receptionists (not Crís) got our bags mixed up and placed them in incorrect rooms. Luckily the accommodation is small and secure, but this could be unsafe. - no lift, so be mindful how much you travel with. - consider having a mirror in the living room or a mirror with lights around it for makeup!

A pleasant guest house in a great Porto location that is good value for money

Pros: The guest house is in a great central location in easy walking distance from/to the Sao Bento station (connect to Campanha), Douro river and old town and tourist areas. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. Chris at reception was very welcoming and provided lots of advice about places to visit and where to eat locally and she always had a friendly greeting when we returned to the guest house. We had a large room on the top floor with good open views towards Gaia and the opportunity to observe people and activity in the local area. The room had a large comfortable bed and a separate sitting area with sofa and armchair and good aircon/heating. The bathroom was large, with the shower over the bath (plenty of hot water but weak pressure). Breakfast was typical continental fare with fresh juice, cereals, yogurt, boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, breads and cakes. Good quality and more than enough to start your day. Overall, a pleasant place to stay that was good value for money.

Cons: As commented upon by others - steep stairs only that could be a challenge for some guests. Chris was happy to assist with luggage. Also, a small fridge and kettle in each room would make stays more comfortable for guests.

Pros: The warm welcoming reception by the staff at checkin will always be remembered. The breakfast was basic but tasty. The courtyard at different level provides great views of the city. Excellent location , meant that the sights along the river as well as in the old city was within easy walking distance.

Cons: Not much not to like...😄

Lovely guesthouse in central Porto.

Pros: Cale Guesthouse is centrally located, near restaurants, shops and the river. We were met on arrival by Chris who offered us a pastel de nata and Porto wine which was very welcoming and a nice touch. She also gave us maps with ideas for places to visit. I had a lovely, large room with 2 sets of French doors onto the 'balcony'. The bed was also large and very comfortable and there were 2 couches plus a pleasant bathroom.

Cons: The only negative was the fact that there was no fridge or kettle. Though I was able to make a hot drink in the corridor outside my room.

Over all we had a great time .

Pros: Staff very friendly and helpful. Good buffet breakfast provided.

Cons: I would have preferred to have a small fridge in the room and a kettle . These were not provided. Also the stairs would be a problem for anyone with mobility issues.
